Christopher Dorsey was born in Louisiana in 1980. He has been called B. Gizzle and Baby Gangsta, but everyone now calls him B.G. He is known for his hip hop music and New Orleans rap. He grew up in uptown New Orleans, going to elementary school and doing some rap for a hobby. He sold pot, coke and then heroin after he took to the streets after his father was killed when he was twelve years old. He was addictive to heroin. He had a usual start in the music world thanks to his barber when he referred him to Cash Money Records. Baby and Slim were brothers and CEO of Cash Money. He did audition and signed with the brothers.
He released “True Story” at the age of twelve in 1992. B.G. created fame for Cash Money after he survived roster purges with the label company. A southern classic “Chopper City” independently sold 147,000 copies in 1996. In 1997 B.G. made “It’s All on U’ volumes one and two, was made in 1997 when Universal and Cash Money sealed a $30 million dollar deal. The album “Chopper City in the Ghetto” produced the song hit “Bling Bling.” He became a very wealthy man and was not afraid to flash his wealth around. He left Cash Money after a dispute with Baby in 2001. He went on to enter a Minnesota drug rehab program to beat a heroin addiction. Although he keeps producing albums he has had his share of fame and has said he will continue. His music history started in 1993 and continues on today in 2006. He has eleven albums and eleven singles.
He currently is living in Michigan, around the Detroit area running his own record label Chopper City Records. At the young age of twenty-five, he is a well know veteran of hip hop. He moved to Michigan area for good in 2005 after the hurricane Katrina. |
