Beanie, whose name is Dwight Grant was born in 1974, is from Pennsylvania. State Property label and group was founded by Beanie along with a clothing company. His name Beanie Sigel was chose because this was the street he grew up on, Sigel Street in Pennsylvania, Philadelphia to be precise. People called him Beans so he called himself Beanie Sigel.
Roc-A-Fella Records released “The Truth” which was Beanie’s debut album in the year 2000. This album proved to be a hit, when it went gold. Beanie went on to release “The Reason”, his second album in 2001. This was the introduction of State Property, Beanie’s own group. They disbanded when Beanie went to prison. Beanie kept going alone, and made a movie.
Beanie Sigel has had his fare share of trouble. In 2005, Beanie was acquitted of being accused of nearly shooting a man to death in 2003 on a busy and crowded street. Beanie was put in prison for almost a year for a weapons charge in Philly in 2002 after a traffic charge. Beanie was put in jail for short time for failure to pay child support. After paying $27,000 and a fine, he was released. These are just some of his criminal charges; Beanie has a lengthy record back to when he was young. January 2006 Beanie faced another charge of assault dating back to 2003. For this he received probation for 2 years.
The latest of Beanie Sigel’s criminal pass happen in May 2006, when he was shot twice while performing a robbery attempt. He did survive. Now the public wants to know if this was publicity stunt. Beanie told a reporter he can’t say anything until he is off of parole in 2007. It may have worked since everyone is listening to his newest CD to see if it is mentioned. |
