Anthony Moses Davis was born in Jamaica in 1973. His music consists of dancehall and ragga. In his early days Beenie Man was introduced to the music world when he won a talent contest in 1980. It was a Tastee Talent contest. His earliest recording of “Two Fancy” was done when he was just eight years old in 1981. By the age of ten he was making recording with Fathead and Dillinger. The album was titled “the Invincible Beenie Man: The Ten Year Old DJ Wonder.” Beenie also had a single at ten called “Over the Sea.”
Beenie recorded an album with Bounty Killer in 1995 after they came to an understanding about a phrase “people dead” that Beenie said Bounty stole. The name of the album was “Guns Out.” In 1994 after Beenie signed with Island Records, he released the album “Blessed.” So his early years took place in Jamaica. After a stint in the United Kingdom, Beenie Man move onto the United States. Virgin Records signed Beenie in 1998. His fit album in the USA was “The Doctor.” In 2002 he did a duet with Janet Jackson recording “Fell It Boy.” In 2004 he did “Dude” with Ms. Thing from Jamaica and rhymes with Shawnna.
Beenie was protested against by gay and lesbian protesters stating that some of his songs are geared toward gays. He was supposed to appear in concert in 2006 which was sponsored by Lifebeat, but was canceled due to protesters. MTV also canceled him due to this protest. Beenie announced that he is not homophobic, but the words in the song where about a child molester. People who knew the song said it definitely was about gays. The wards talk about executing all gays. In August of 2006 Beenie married D’Anqel. |
