Capone-N-Noreaga Biography |

 Capone-N-Noreaga is a rap duo consisting of Capone (nee Kiam Holley) and Noreaga (Victor Santiago). The group is known for bringing back the East Coast Hardcore rap genre to the mainstream. The group is especially known for the uniquely different contributions that the two members feature. Capone is known for his slang, and Noreaga for his unusual rapping style.
The duo met while in jail in the early 1990s, and since then worked together on two albums. Their first album, 1997’s The War Report, was recorded while Capone was still in jail. He would not be released from jail until 1999. The album was highly well received from the critical press, being applauded for its realism and its willingness to rap about hardcore issues. While Capone was still in jail unable to tour, Noreaga worked on a solo career. He released his first solo album, N.O.R.E., in 1998. After Capone was released from jail the group recorded their second album, the Reunion. The album was released in 2000 under the Tommy Boy Records label.
In 2001 the group left for the Def Jam record label, and the group was forced to rename itself C-N-N. This was because Tommy Boy Records owns the trademark to the Capone-N-Noreaga name. Also, Noreaga’s name was owned by trademark, so he changed it to N.O.R.E. for future releases. In 2003 the group was to release their third album, the Religion, but the first single off of the album, “Yes Sir,” failed to make a dent on the charts. The group was then cut from Def Jam and the album released was cancelled. A few years later the label cut Capone from his contract, but Noreaga was retained. Noreaga has two albums, 1 Fan A Day and N.O.R.E. Y La Familia, which are ready for release but no official dates have been announced. Also, Capone released a solo album in 2005, Pain, Time and Glory, but that album failed to sell well. |
