Christina Milian Biography |
|
 |
Christina Milian is a New Jersey-based hip-hop vocalist and actress. While she has recorded a good number of successful albums she has been focusing on her acting career for the most part in recent years.
Before becoming a successful musician Milian appeared in some small-level productions as a child, including the title role in a production of the musical Annie. In the late 1990s she had minor roles in some successful films, including American Pie and the animated film A Bug’s Life.
Milian’s first true success in singing came when she performed backing vocals on Ja Rule’s 2000 hit “Between Me and You.” She soon co-wrote and sang backing vocals on the Jennifer Lopez hit “Play.” Her first album, 2001’s Christina Milian, featured two singles, “AM to PM” and “When You Look At Me,” which both made it to third on the United Kingdom singles chart. Also in 2001 she recorded the song “Call Me, Beep Me,” which became the theme song to the hit animated series Kim Possible.
In 2003 Milian appeared in her biggest film role to date in the film Love Don’t Cost a Thing. This soon led to her writing and releasing her second album and her first to be released in the United States, 2004’s It’s About Time. The album features the single “Dip It Low,” which featured a guest appearance by Fabolous. Her most recent album, 2006’s So Amazin’, reached eleventh on the Billboard United States charts.
Milian continues to appear in films, most recently in the films Be Cool, Pulse and the upcoming Dreamworks animated film Crood Awakening. She is currently writing her fourth album, which is expected to be released in 2007. Milian is also looking for a new record label at this time, as she left Island Def Jam due to creative disputes. |
