Lil Kim grew up in Brooklyn and was close friends with Biggie Smalls while growing up. Biggie introduced her to the music industry and helped form and promote her group Junior Mafia which only released one album. Since then she has gone solo and has been one of the most succesful female rappers of all time. She reached multi-platinum status and won a grammy award for her role in "Lady Marmalade".
