Ludacris Biography


Christopher Brian Bridges was born in Champaign, Illinois on September the 11th,1977. His love for music was brought on to him by his young college student parents. His parents were very much into the party scene and usually took Chris to college parties.

At the age of 12 years old Christopher joined a rap group called the Loudmouth Hooligans. That same year he moved to Atlanta with his parents.

In High school Christopher would battle other kids in the lunchroom, and also competed in a lot of open mic competitions around Atlanta.

He finally landed a job as the late night DJ for the new hot 97.5 radio station in Atlanta and that is when he created his radio personality name Chris Lova Lova.

He rhymed over promo beats during his show and finally debuted on Timbaland's album for the track "Phat Rabbit".

In 1999, with his new name Ludacris, he dropped independently the album Incognegro. The album Sold 50,000 copies out of the back of his trunk.

In 2000 Scarface signed Luda to Def Jam, under the Def Jam South umbrella. He dropped his First major album shortly, Back for the First Time. The album went 3x platinum with the help of two major hits "What's Your Fantasy?" & "Southern Hospitality".

In 2001 he dropped his follow up major album Word of Mouf which went 3x platinum with the Help of three hit singles "Roll Out (My Business)", "Area Codes", "Move Bitch". He also Appeared in a small role for the Movie "The Wash".

In 2002 Ludacris toured around the world promoting his two albums.

In 2003, he starred in the movie "2 fast 2 furious", a movie directed by John Singleton, it was a big budget movie that grossed US$236,041,731 worldwide. He had a hit single on the 2 Fast 2 furious soundtrack called "Act a Fool". He also dropped his third album in 2003, Chicken & Beer which went 2x platinum with the help of the Kanye West produced single "Stand-up".

In 2004 Luda lost a Pepsi commercial deal due to protest by Bill O'reilly, who chastised Pepsi for hiring him as a pitchman. There was a public outcry, Pepsi folded, Ludacris was sacked. He also dropped the album The Red Light District which went 2x platinum with the help of two hit singles "Get Back" and "The Number One Spot". Ludacris also received his first Grammy Award with Usher and Lil Jon for their hit single "Yeah". Later that year he created The Ludacare Foundation with Chaka Zulu. It is an organization that helps young middle and high school students to involve themselves in creative arts.

The year 2005 was busy year for Luda, he starred in two major motion pictures. He played the role of the car thief Anthony in the movie "Crash". He starred in the movie Hustle & Flow as Skinny Black, a rapper whose success inspires the main character Djay.

In 2006 Luda is anticipated to drop his latest album Release Therapy.
