Jones was born in the Northside of Houston on January 6th 1981, As a youth Jones had dreams of becoming an NBA star. When that dream didnt come through he started rapping in 2001. He kept his real name as an artist, which early on caused a lot of people not to remember his name. When giving his CD to DJs, they'd say "Who are you?" He'd say "Mike Jones" and they'd say "Who?" Taking his grandma's advice he kept his name and decided to keep repeating it throughout his rhymes. He also gave out his cellphone number 281-455-1858 in his ryhmes and on his promotional T-shirts.
He created Ice age entertainment in 2001 and built a studio to record Ice Age vol.1. Jones distributed the album by himself and caught the attention of SwishaHouse owner DJ Michael Watts and signed him to the independant label. He dropped four albums on Swisha house: Ballin Underground, First Round Draft Picks, Runnin' The Game, and Day Hell Broke Loose 2.
In 2005 he dropped his first major album, Who Is Mike Jones?. under a major record deal with Warner Brothers Records. The album went 2x platinum. Thanks to his hit single "still tippin".
He is currently working on his second album "American Dreams"
