Paul Slayton was born in Houston, Texas on march 30th, 1980.
Slayton began his music career in high school as a street team member promoting southern artists. He graduated high school and then studied mass communications at the University of Houston for three years. While in school he became an accomplished mixtape and party DJ.
Paul and childhood friend, rapper Chamillionaire began promoting and rapping on local label Swishahouse Records mixtapes. They decided to break out on their own and left Swishahouse.
Cham and Paul signed with Paid In Full Records, and released Get Ya Mind Correct in 2002. The duo were named the Color Changing Click. Despite selling 100,000 copies in houston the two parted ways on bad terms due to money conflicts.
In 2003 Slayton retuned to swishahouse label, he appeared on Mike Jones' single "Still Tippin'", which was commercial success all over the U.S.
In 2004 he released the independant album The Chick Magnet and in early 2005 he released another independant album Controversy Sells which was recorded back when he was still friends with Chamillionaire.
In 2005 Paul Wall released his first majorly distributed album The People's Champ, which went platinum with the help of three singles "Sittin' Sidewayz", "They Don't Know" and "Girl". He also featured on Nelly's smash hit "Grillz".
Slayton is the owner and proprietor of TV Jewelry in Houston. The store specializes in the production of grills, silver, gold, or platinum caps and diamond inlays. He also married his wife Crystal who gave birth to William "Fat" Patrick Slayton in 2006.
The new album Get Money, Stay True is due out in Fall 2006.
